Altar of Solo Lobo (aka: Tujunga Man)
OK, first I'll mention this is in my room, pictures taken at night with fluorescent and incandescent light bulbs in the room. Probably the colors would improve if I had taken these pics during the day light hours... but I wanted to get these up impatiently. So here they are...

Actually, sort of my whole house is an altar, so it's hard to say which area is the "altar" actually. There are "focal points" I guess.
One, is THIS area, the frame and the tabletop below it.

The frame, I installed action figures, super heroes (Harry Potter, Spiderman, Jack Sparrow -Pirate of the Caribbean), my favorite movie monsters (Alien, Terminator, Raze -werewolf from Underworld, Venom -Spiderman, Gollum -Lord of the Rings), religious figures (Buddah, Mother Mary, Jesus, Yoda), other mystical figures (a dragon, human skull replicas), and other personally meaningful symbolic figures and items.

Buddah, Mary, Raze (werewolf)... note the "padre" with a baby in his arms and the "peace dove symbol "coming between" the aboriginal native man and woman separating them and facing away from each other. Notice the Buddah laughing and looking up and then the Mary looking down on the earth she STANDS on with a "gentle" smile kind of like domination don't you think?

In the center bottom is actually a dead and dried common Alligator Lizard snaking around a Buddah-ish brass figurine -No, I don't know what is the symbolism behind that - I just like the implied drama of it -what story would you give it?

Bottom left, a small encapsulated scorpion, a stone and metal human skull, Captain Jack Sparrow, an actual rattle snake tail rattle, an Egyptian sarcophagus, and cherub. Yeah, don't ask me. But I think they're pretty cool.

Center left, Harry Potter looking into the mirror where he sees his long lost parents... what, Ho! Gollum has the ring at last! ... and it's an authentic mood-ring that changes colors!

Center right, Spiders and Monkeys (and apes). Hey, did you know that scorpions belong to the Arachnid family, the same family as spiders? Evolution-wise, Scorpions are like highly mutated spiders, yet spiders are more evolutionarily more sophisticated. Well, to tell you the truth, I'm not sure which came first, the spider or the scorpion. They sort of just branched off from the same single animal before they were either "spider" or "scorpion." Spiderman was always my most favorite super hero, being so svelte, nimble and dancer-like. The little figure at bottom left in jeans and tight red T-shirt is an actual "gay intentioned" figurine -a rare find indeed. Scorpions are one of my favorite fascinations in the arthropod phylum. I used to keep Asian and African scorpions as pets. The apes and monkeys are Geppetto nuances as his pet name for me was "Monkey." I don't think I like that anymore.

Upper left, a wizard, crystals, and a dragon. They go together well, don't you think? I paid $75 many years ago for the dragon made of hard zinc/lead or something which was expertly painted by a professional miniature scale hobbyist. It's the best classic dragon I've ever seen.

Upper right, YODA!... and Alien. Note the "Buddah-ized" pic behind Yoda -did you ever make that connection? The Alien seems to be a complete opposite of Yoda, yet the Alien is quite a Zen creature, a "being of self" not TRYING to be anything more than what it is.

Just a bunch of shit on the table top below the frame. More figures, candles, dried white sage, shiny iridescent baubles, scented oils, a picture of my favorite old and diseased mentor friend (Ramon). NO! -the hypodermic shot thingies are just printer cartridge ink re-fillers.

This is an original hand-drawn color pencil poster by Andrew Pacheco, a young Latino artist I had met. The image is a mythical satyr with an erection and woman behind him. I apologize for the poor quality of my phone pics.
